Kdysi dávno vzkvétala civilizace malých humanoidních medvědů zvaných Gummi Bears. Vládli mocnou magií i vyspělou technikou a žili vedle lidí, dokud je sílící rivalita nedonutila uprchnout přes moře. Zůstala po nich jen malá kolonie strážců, která měla připravit případný návrat. Jenže generace míjely, kolonie na své poslání zapomněla a lidem se vědomí o tomto plemeni scvrklo v pouhou pověst. Všechno se změní, když kolonie potká chlapce s medailonem Gummi Bears, jenž otevírá Velkou knihu Gummi a odhaluje ztracené vědění o jejich minulosti. Kolonie se teď upsala novému cíli: znovu objevit své dědictví s pomocí několika lidí, jimž může věřit, a zároveň zabránit novým nepřátelům, jako je vévoda Igthorn, aby toho dědictví zneužili ve svůj prospěch.
