The Mod Squad je policejní drama o třech mladých, moderních bojovnících se zločinem. Jeden bílý, jeden černý, jedna blondýna zněl propagační slogan. Obsazení mělo oslovit mladé publikum z prostředí kontrakultury. Základní premisa spočívala v tom, že mladí vyšetřovatelé dostali práci v boji proti zločinu jako alternativu k vlastnímu uvěznění. Hlavní myšlenkou seriálu bylo, že tři policisté využívají své mladistvé hippie image jako zástěrku, aby se dostali blízko k zločincům, které vyšetřují. Během svého původního pětiletého vysílání byl seriál středně populární. Zobrazoval multikulturní společnost a zabýval se otázkami rasové politiky, drogové kultury a kontrakultury.

Seriál získal šest nominací na cenu Emmy, čtyři nominace na Zlatý glóbus a jedno vítězství pro Peggy Liptonovou, jednu cenu Directors Guild of America a čtyři ceny Logie.
