Malý Sheldon Cooper to ve východním Texasu nemá jednoduché. Být mozek, jaký se rodí jednou za generaci, a ovládat pokročilou matematiku a přírodní vědy není zrovna výhoda v kraji, kde vládne kostel a fotbal. A zatímco se zranitelný, nadaný a trochu naivní Sheldon vyrovnává se světem, jeho zcela obyčejná rodina musí přijít na to, jak se vyrovnat s ním. Otec George se hledá jako trenér středoškolského fotbalu i jako táta chlapce, kterému nerozumí. Sheldonova matka Mary syna zarputile chrání a podporuje ve městě, kam prostě nezapadá. Starší bratr Georgie na střední dělá, co může, jenže být za frajera je těžké, když sedíte ve stejných hodinách se svým podivínským mladším bratrem. Sheldonovu dvojče Missy občas štve, kolik pozornosti se Sheldonovi dostává, ale zároveň zůstává jediným člověkem, který mu spolehlivě řekne pravdu. A pak je tu Sheldonova milovaná Meemaw, sprostě mluvící a pořádně pijící texaská babička, která svého vnuka a jeho výjimečné nadání vždycky podrží. Diváci poznávali ikonického, výstředního a mimořádného Sheldona Coopera dvanáct let v seriálu The Big Bang Theory. Tahle půlhodinová komedie natáčená jednou kamerou nám dává šanci potkat ho v dětství, na jeho nevinné, nemotorné a nadějeplné cestě k muži, kterým se jednou stane.
